New recruits move from a brutal US Marine training bootcamp to the fog of war in Stanley Kubrick’s essential Vietnam drama.

At training camp, a brutal staff sergeant attempts to strip away the individuality of a group of new recruits to turn them into marines. Later, they begin fighting in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive. Exposing the horror and absurdity of the conflict, Kubrick skilfully examines the damage war inflicts on the collective human soul – with cutting irony, and a terrifying intensity.

"The perfect fusion of my passion for films and history, with a delicious side of Kubrick. A sleight of hand exploration of how a person might get somewhere and lose themselves to the machine. Its iconic two part structure is creepy, horrifying and always alluring, with a focus on questions rather than answers. I keep coming back to this classic as one of the best war films ever made. See you at the movies!"
