Awaited by Sherlock Holmes fans for decades, the BFI Archive delivers three newly restored episodes of classic silent series The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

Produced by Stoll Pictures between 1921-23, this collection is the last significant work in the Sherlock silent film canon to be restored. So popular it ran for 45 episodes, the series’ casting of Eille Norwood as Holmes was approved by Arthur Conan Doyle himself. Comprising three episodes – A Scandal in Bohemia, The Golden Pince-Nez and The Final Problem, Silent Sherlock boasts newly commissioned scores by Joanna MacGregor, Neil Brand and Joseph Havlat.

Pre-recorded interview

We're pleased to present a pre-recorded interview following the screening with BFI Curator of Silent Film, Bryony Dixon, talking about the Archive project.
