Schedule
Wed 28 Jan: Chemigram Sculptures with Tom Godwin
Learn all about the experimental photography process of chemigrams, an abstract and creative activity where you will paint, print and mark make on photo sensitive paper using a mixture of eco-friendly developer and fixer. Create your very own chemigrams inspired by the sculptures of Takuro Kuwata currently on show in the Team Bowl Punk exhibition in the Mead Gallery.
Wed 4 Feb: Design a tea bowl punk rocker! with Michael Kennedy
Inspired by the Tea Bowl Punk show, design comics, anime, animation or video game characters from their punk personality down to their bold fashion choices. Using coloured papers and graphic mark making techniques, the session is a combination of character design, world building and graphic poster art! Perfect chance to begin a storytelling project, develop your ideas or just make some character art in a chilled environment.
Wed 11 Feb: Lumen Printing with Tom Godwin
Step back in time to the very beginnings of photography with this, camera less process. Capture nature through your own solar photograms and learn about the early, experimental photography techniques that would lead to the world of photography we know today.
Wed 18 Feb: Lunar New Year with Nor and Dotti
Come and celebrate Lunar New Year with this artist led Creative Social in collaboration with the Canley Community that explores calligraphy and batik techniques to create new year mementos!
Wed 25 Feb: Community Banner Making with Nor, Dotti and Pippa Church
Celebrating the Canley community and local history, join us to design and make your own flags and banners. Inspired by the proud history of miner's banners and grassroots movements, we'll be sewing, painting, drawing, writing, appliquéing, and stitching stories onto fabric. This is a collaboration between Warwick Arts Centre and the Canley community building towards the Canley Parade in June 2026!
Wed 4 Mar: Tea Bowl Punk World Building with Michael Kennedy
Inspired by the Tea Bowl Punk show, you’ll be designing flora, scenery, landscapes and environments in a visual world building workshop. Using coloured papers and graphic mark making techniques, put yourself in the shoes of professional concept designers for comics, anime, animation and video games. Build libraries of designs for future projects, workshop existing ideas or create a piece of concept art in a hands on but relaxed creative space.
Wed 11 Mar: Performance Poetry with Sipho Eric Ndlovu
Join spoken word artist, Sipho Eric Ndlovu in this powerful session that explores the possibilities of poetry for performance. This workshop will contain all the necessities to help encourage you to become a poet in an afternoon.
