This concert brings together the University of Warwick Symphony Orchestra and Chorus together for a blend of old and new.
Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D major, also known as the Titan symphony, is an evocation of nature - the world waking up after a long hard winter. It depicts the struggles of a hero against the whims of fate before ending in a blaze of glory, complete with off-stage brass.
In contrast, Katy Lavinia Cooper’s stirring Twelve Trees focuses on one of nature's greatest titans. The piece celebrates twelve trees native to the British Isles, drawing inspiration from history, folklore and traditional music. This is not to be missed.
