The Dardenne brothers (The Child, The Son) return with a superbly affecting drama about teenage girls preparing for motherhood in a Belgian shelter.

Jessica craves the acceptance of her own mother, while Perla hopes that a baby will draw her delinquent boyfriend closer. Recovering addict Julie sees a brighter future ahead, but Ariane feels unprepared for the challenges of parenthood, while single mother Naïma hopes to repair relations with her disapproving family. Shooting in a real shelter, the Dardennes skilfully interweave these stories together in this tender, compassionate and beautifully observed social realist study of the upheaval of motherhood.
