Did you know you have to stir clockwise when you stir your oatmeal?

Otherwise you’re letting the devil into your porridge. Everyone knows this – at least in Carrbridge, a picturesque village in the Scottish Highlands, which for 30 years has hosted the World Porridge Championships. This year is the last that Charlie will be in charge of festivities. His health is failing, and it’s time for him to pass on the spurtle. Amid intense rivalries, steaming bowls of porridge and charmingly eccentric locals, a living legacy unfolds.
