Warwick Malaysian Students Association presents Lilin, a journey of self-discovery where Jasmin learns there is more to her grandmother than she thought.
Lilin follows Yasmin, a Johor-born girl, who sleeps to Tok Mak’s gentle whisper: “Time goes as the candle glows.”
Their bond is shaped by evenings spent together practicing Malay traditional dance, hinting she was once a legendary performer. But as Yasmin grows up, she grows busy, she drifts away; until an unexpected tragedy unsettles the life she once thought was mapped out.
Who knew time wasn’t linear? When an heirloom stirs, a voice calls her through the night. She is drawn towards a cave glowing like a candle’s flicker. What will she find when she steps inside?
