Family Sundays
Free, donations gratefully accepted.
No need to book, just drop in!
Every Sunday between 25 Jan - 15 Mar, from 1.30pm until 4pm.
Join our family artists every Sunday for time to be creative as a family and have fun.
We’ll explore key themes and processes in our programme such as spoken word, music, movement, performance and circus, with opportunities for you and your little ones to perform if you like.
Our fantastic artists in residence for Spring 2026 Family Sundays are Lorna Rose and Naoibh McNamee. Here’s a bit more about them and their exciting workshops:
Lorna Rose is an artist who uses stitch alongside a wide range of materials to reflect on her everyday experiences. Motivated by the potential of creativity to communicate, inspire and engage, she leads workshops in galleries, schools and other community settings.
Naoibh McNamee is an artist working across performance, installation, and sculpture. Their colourful, camp practice is shaped by queer and disabled perspectives, exploring gender non-conformity, family heritage, and autistic experience. Using playful, often non-human forms, Naoibh celebrates identity, belonging, and the communities they call home.

Naoibh McNamee - Build Your Own Bodhrán
Create, decorate, and play your very own drum, inspired by the Irish bodhrán. Will your drum be inspired by Celtic designs, examples of real bodhráin, or maybe your favourite animal, flower or character? Naoibh will help you imagine and plan your design before transferring it onto your drum to create an instrument unique to you. Once you’ve finished your drum - it’s on to music making! Play, dance, and show off your drumming in a jam session with Naoibh and their bodhrán. Participants are encouraged to bring their drums back (or leave them with Warwick Arts Centre) to use at the Mummers’ Ball on Sunday 8 March!
Sun 1 Feb
Lorna Rose - Mini Sculptures
In response to the exhibition Tea Bowl Punk by Takuro Kuwata Lorna will invite visiting families to explore a carefully curated collection of second-hand, up-cycled and sustainable objects to investigate material properties. An area for open ended play will also be available for children who can explore material properties in their own way.
Sun 8 Feb
Naoibh McNamee - Alien Collages
Create your own alien avatar through collage! Naoibh will show you one of their favourite ways to bring new and otherworldly characters to life. Dig through magazines, books, flyers, menus and more to choose funky images and colours to form the body of your alien character. Experiment with different combinations and new silhouettes - aliens can come in all kinds of shapes and sizes!
Sun 15 Feb
Lorna Rose - Hanging Texture
Families are invited to get creative together by choosing from a selection of fun shapes to decorate. Using colourful collage materials and textures, everyone can explore their own ideas and make something unique. The finished pieces can be strung together to create playful hanging artworks, some short, some long! Full of movement and personality, inspired by the work of Alexander Calder.

Naoibh McNamee - Mummer-fication!
“Mumming” is a traditional folk theatre that has been practiced for thousands of years across Ireland and other parts of Europe. Join Naoibh to create a costume of your very own inspired by Irish Mummers. You’ll learn about the techniques they use to craft their costumes and weave a headpiece perfect for performance, disguise, and play. Participants are encouraged to bring their costumes back (or leave them with Warwick Arts Centre) to use at the Mummers’ Ball on Sudnay 8 March!

Lorna Rose - Texture Wrapping
Participants are invited to wrap, wind, and weave using a soft and colourful mix of threads, wool, wire, and fibres. As the layers grow, other materials can be tucked in along the way, turning simple wrapping into a shared, tactile adventure full of texture and discovery.

Naoibh McNamee - Mummers’ Ball
Long winter nights are drawing to a close, and what better way to celebrate than with a ball? Inspired by the traditional Irish practice of mumming, Naoibh cordially invites you to attend the Mummers Ball!
In this workshop, you’ll learn all about mumming characters and stories, as well as how to perform and create your own! Mumming characters reflect each performer, so let your imagination run wild and choose to be a villain, hero, pop culture icon, animal, alien and so much more.
Participants who also attended “Mummer-fication” and “Build your own bodhrán” are encouraged to bring the mummers’ costumes and drums they created to this session! Additional props will be provided.
