A young couple hide secrets from each other in Suzanne writer-director Katell Quillévéré’s epic post-war romance.
A single mother in Brittany after the war, waitress Madeleine (Anaïs Demoustier) falls happily in love with sensitive, bookish Francois (Vincent Lacoste), but as their union intensifies, secrets from the past and present threaten to destroy them. A story of guilt, shame and desire that unfolds over decades, Quillévéré’s full-blooded mid-century melodrama is rooted in her own family history.
