Posted
Monday 21 July

A year of sublime classical music. Expect plenty of genuine surprises as our programme boasts iconic works alongside lesser known masterpieces, and all performed by some of the most accomplished musicians in the world.

Orchestral Series 2025-26

We open the series on Wed 24 Sep with the pioneering Chineke! Orchestra, this year with soloists Sheku, Isata Kanneh-Mason and Tai Murray, presenting an evening celebrating a decade of musical excellence and diversity. In December, we present Concerto Budapest Symphony Orchestra conducted by András Keller, performing a stirring programme including Tchaikovsky’s dramatic Dante-inspired Francesca da Rimini.

In 2026, we invite back the phenomenal Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Kevin John Edusei and featuring South African soprano Masabane Cecilia.  We are also welcoming Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment with their programme Mozart’s World: A Little Night Music.

We conclude the series with City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra led by Music Director, Kazuki Yamada conducting two epic works including Tchaikovsky’s first piano concerto and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

Classical music that celebrates the stars of tomorrow

Sitting at the heart of a University campus we are proud to be celebrating the next generation of classical maestros. We welcome CBSO Youth Orchestra alongside CBSO musicians presenting an evening of Shostakovich’s music in November. This is followed by the return of National Youth Orchestra who consistently amaze audiences with their spirited and masterful performances.
