Tongue Fu is the UK’s leading spoken word and music show.

“Poetry, but not as you know it…amazing” Guardian

Writer, musician and founder, Chris Redmond, invites extraordinary poets and storytellers to take risks, re-working material live with improvised soundtracks from a crack team of quick witted, genre-hopping musicians.

For this ‘Change Special’, the Fu team and three special guests will explore how we can challenge and inspire each other, through poetry, stories and music.

Featuring:
Salena Godden – Celebrated poet (BBC’s The Verb, Loose Ends), essayist, radio presenter and rebel. Her latest book, Pessimism Is For Lightweights is published by Rough Trade Books.

Rachel Rose Reid – Champion of the oral tradition, bridging the worlds of storytelling, spoken word and song, from rock festivals to theatres, campfires to concert halls.

Amerah Saleh – Birmingham born spoken word artist and human rights activist. Co-founder of Verve Poetry Press and Verve Poetry Festival. In 2018 she performed at the Commonwealth Games Handover Ceremony.

Chris Redmond – A regular at music and literature festivals, he has featured on BBC Radio 1, 2, 4 and Sky Arts.

The Tongue Fu Band’s collective credits include Jamie Cullum, Beardyman Dream Team, Puppini Sisters and Massive Attack.
