Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon) and Russell Crowe (Gladiator) give electrifying performances in this stripped-back, hard-hitting thriller.
Oregon, 1933: When Samuel (Hawke) is torn from his daughter and sent to a brutal prison, Warden Clancy (Crowe) offers him a high-stakes proposition: smuggle gold out of a remote mine with a dangerous crew of prisoners and he’ll win his freedom. A taut, old-fashioned tale of tough times and the desperate men they breed, The Weight is an assured and satisfying watch.
