Spoon Carving Workshop with Tom Jennings
Tickets: £46
Join woodworker Tom Jennings for a hands-on introduction to the art of spoon carving.
You’ll learn the process from start to finish, beginning with a demonstration before creating your own wooden spoon. Over the session, Tom will guide you through gauging and shaping the spoon bowl, using saws to make stop cuts and remove waste wood, then moving on to fine carving and whittling to add features and refine your design. You’ll finish your spoon with thorough sanding and learn how to apply oil to protect and bring out the natural beauty of the wood.
Tom Jennings is woodcarver whose practice celebrates the natural beauty, character and history of timber. Working predominantly by hand, Tom combines traditional carving techniques with a contemporary approach, allowing the grain, texture and imperfections of each piece of wood to influence the finished work. He is particularly drawn to reclaimed and sustainably sourced timber, transforming discarded materials into distinctive sculptural and functional pieces.
