Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s visually inventive fable is as sprightly and heart-warming as ever on its 25th anniversary.

Audrey Tautou’s breakout performance is the beating heart of the whimsical tale of a lonely Montmartre waitress with a big imagination who makes it her mission in life to help those around her find happiness. As she hatches elaborate schemes to aid the colourful eccentrics in her neighbourhood, an encounter with Nino (Mathieu Kassovitz), who collects discarded passport photos, might just lead to her own happiness.
