Rohan Parashuram Kanawade’s award-winning debut is an understated, beautifully photographed study of grief, love and queerness in rural India.
After his father dies, 30-year-old Anand (Bhushaan Manoj) returns to home for a 10-day mourning period. The intensity of these rituals and his relatives’ pressure on him to marry leave him little room to grieve. But his rekindled friendship with childhood pal Balya (Suraaj Suman) offers him a glimpse of freedom, and as the pair reconnect, companionship gradually leads to deeper feelings of desire.
Post-screening Film Talk
We're delighted to be joined in person by director Rohan Parashuram Kanawade in conversation with Ritika Kaushik, Assistant Professor in Film and Television Studies at University of Warwick.
