Gallery Late x Lilac Cube Poetry Series

Lilac Cube and the Mead Gallery present an evening of poetry,  featuring readings by Eve Esfandiari-Denney, Nisha Ramayya, and Lila Matsumoto.  

These leading voices in contemporary British poetry will speak to the themes of British Art Show 10: A Chorus of Strangers and to Warwick Art Centre’s HOME season. 

The evening will also include open mic slots, a printmaking workshop, and books for sale from the poets.

Lilac Cube is a contemporary poetry reading series borne out of the University of Warwick's English and Comparative Literature Studies Department and curated by Dr Mae Losasso.  

Eve Esfandiari-Denney’s debut poetry pamphlet, My Bodies This Morning This Evening, was published by Bad Betty Press in 2022. She has been shortlisted for the White Review Poet’s Prize, Aesthetica’s Creative Writing Award, the Forward Prize for Best Single Poem (Performed) and longlisted for the National Poetry Competition. Her work has appeared in The Poetry Review, Granta, BBC Radio 4 and Prototypes Annual Anthology, among others. Her first collection, Girling, was published by Fitzcarraldo in September.

Nisha Ramayya works across poetry, criticism, and collaborative performance, and teaches creative writing. She’s the author of two poetry collections, States of the Body Produced by Love (Ignota 2019; reissued by Spiral House Editions in 2025) and Fantasia (Granta, 2024), as well as the co-authored pamphlets Threads and Siblings, among other publications.  

Lila Matsumoto's publications include the poetry collections Talk a Blue Streak (Monitor Books, 2026), Two Twin Pipes Sprout Water (Prototype, 2021), and Urn & Drum (Shearsman, 2018), and a creative-critical book on cross-disciplinary art practice, The Very Nature of Materiality is an Entanglement (In Other Words, 2024). She plays in the bands Food People and Mountain Hovel Circle and teaches creative writing and poetics at the University of Nottingham.
