The late Robert Redford co-stars with Dustin Hoffman in Alan J. Pakula’s taut, engrossing thriller about the biggest political scandal of the century.
In the superb final instalment of Alan J. Pakula’s ‘Paranoia Trilogy’, Redford and Hoffman are Washington Post journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, whose investigation into a bungled burglary at the Watergate Hotel leads, astonishingly, to the downfall of President Nixon. Pakula builds riveting tension with near documentary-like realism in this stunning – and highly pertinent – look at one of American journalism’s finest hours amid an atmosphere of corruption and suppression.

Our team is sharing the films they love so you can enjoy them on the big screen. Sarah has chosen this film in memory of Robert Redford.
"What’s not to like about Robert Redford? In his film career, he was so good at setting up a sense of a real relationship, creating a huge emotional charge so that you became truly invested in the relationship. And then his creation of the Sundance Film Festival launched a whole new generation of films and filmmakers. Such generosity!
All the President’s Men transformed news headlines into a coherent story, showing how a free press was essential to democracy. I loved Redford’s quite determination to hold power to account. Today it reminds us that we should have the courage to question authority and the principle that we should be governed with integrity and, honesty still holds true. "
