Isabelle Huppert gives a career-defining performance in Michael Haneke's The Piano Teacher, screening in a 2K restoration in a major new retrospective of his masterful, unsettling filmography.

40-something Erika (a seething, icy Huppert) teaches piano at the Vienna Conservatory and lives with her mother, whose influence she escapes on regular visits to porn cinemas and peep shows. Erika and life travel separate paths. Until one day, one of her students (Benoît Magimel) gets it into his head to seduce her... and the full force of her complex sexuality is revealed. A formalist masterwork and a critical and artistic breakthrough for Haneke, The Piano Teacher remains a shocking study of the dynamics of control.
