Danny Boyle’s supercharged 1996 classic is returns in a new 4K restoration.

One of the best-loved British films of all time, Oscar-winner Boyle’s (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) Trainspotting was a sensation on its 1996 release. A gleeful, spirited adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s seminal novel about young heroin addicts in Edinburgh, it stars Ewan McGregor as Renton, rattling around the city with his friends Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), Spud (Ewen Bremner) and the sociopathic Begbie (Robert Carlyle), as they struggle to score and navigate the anarchic chaos of their lives.

Shot with incredible dynamism and buoyed by a fizzy Britpop soundtrack, veering from pitch-black humour to piercing tragedy, Boyle’s provocative, surreal Trainspotting captures a specific moment in ‘90s subculture, but still feels fresh.
