5 Cinema Highlights for February 2024
As we enter the shortest month, we are bringing you a bumper line-up of films.
The Iron Claw
Intense and Inspiring, The Iron Claw tells the true story of the Von Eric wrestling dynasty. Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White and Harris Dickinson star as inseparable brothers seeking to make history, all whilst dealing with overwhelming pressure from their father, personal strains and their own identity.
Their story goes through highs and lows, tragedy and triumph all in the name of becoming the best in the business.
The Zone of Interest
Jonathan Glazer returns 10 years after his last film (Under the Skin) with the haunting Höss household.
The Zone of Interest juxtaposes unfathomable horrors with mundane daily inconveniences, as this middle-class home inhabited by Nazi commander Rudolf Höss and his family, is right next to Auschwitz.
Combining a powerful score with Glazer’s unique cinematography we are forced into the haunting normality of this truly tragic time. The horror can be heard on the wind, just out of sight but never out of mind.
Wicked Little Letters
Wicked Little Letters stars Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley in this scandalous seaside story, in which foul, eccentric and obscene letters are being written by a mystery mailer.
Deeply conservative Edith (Colman) is sure her rowdy Irish rival Rose (Buckley) is to blame, however as the town’s women begin to investigate, the mystery unfolds as they discover Rose cannot be the culprit.
Delivering laughs and profanity this is one you can’t leave with your neighbour.
The Taste of Things
The Taste of Things is a gorgeous and tender gem of a film about the quiet burn of long-term love. Love is spoken through the making and sharing of food.
Scenes of food being patiently prepared are honestly mouth-watering. And trust us, eat before you watch this film as bellies will rumble. A sumptuous offering not to be missed.
