Robin Williams as Peter Pan.

Things to do in Coventry this August

Tuesday 21 July

You'll find both indoor and outdoor fun for the family in Coventry at Warwick Arts Centre this August. With classic cinema on offer, you'll be able to enjoy time together on a cinematic adventure, or explore the outdoors and discover fantastic sculptures around the Arts Centre.

Spielberg summer cinema

Our summer of celebrating Spielberg continues during August with two classic adventures – a pirating adventure and a dinosaur thrill ride.

Multi-Oscar-nominated and an adventure that's full of imagination and magic, Hook features a fantastic performance from Robin Williams as a grown-up who must rediscover that he was once the legendary Peter Pan and face the villainous Captain Hook (Dustin Hoffman). A classic adventure for children of all ages with unforgettable scenes

Discover or rewatch the ground-breaking 1993 action adventure, Jurassic Park, and feel every roar and scream on the big screen. Also available to watch in 35mm.

When eccentric industrialist John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) creates a theme park of cloned dinosaurs, he invites palaeontologists Alan (Sam Neill) and Ellie (Laura Dern), chaotician Ian (Jeff Goldblum) and his grandchildren to visit. Little does he know the terrible danger that's about to ensue because of a power failure that lets the intelligent, lethal creatures run loose.

A man holds up a flare in the pouring rain as a T-Rex walks toward him.

Experience classic Japanese anime

Journey on an animated fantasy film adventure from famed Japanese animation studio, Studio Ghibli.

Kiki's Delivery Service, originally released in 1989,  follows the story of a young witch called Kiki as she moves to the port city of Koriko with her cat Jiji to start a flying courier service.

An anime image of a girl, wearing a blue dress and red ribbon in her hair, flying a broomstick over the sea. She is carrying an orange bag as a black cat clings to her arm.

Sculpture walks

Enjoy sunny walks in gardens, woodland, meadows and fields and explore the range of unique sculptures located around the Arts Centre at the University of Warwick Sculpture Park.

With over 20 sculptures to discover, you and family will find a wide variety of sculptures, including two giant steel dinosaurs!

Be sure to start your walk at the Arts Centre and collect your free map and guide at the Box Office. You'll find different trails to follow with different themes and you can also use them to make your own drawings and record your observations and ideas in the booklet.
