Staff Reviews of Warwick Arts Centre: Best of 2024 (so far!)

Posted
Wednesday 28 August 2024

Our team are committed to providing the best experience of cinema, theatre, art, music and so much more. Here are our staff favourites of 2024 (so far!), plus their most anticipated live shows and cinema of the Autumn Season.

Jayne, Visitor Experience Assistant

This year my favourite show was Miloš Karadaglić and his classical recital. He's an absolutely outstanding guitarist. He went back to early baroque music, highlighting some things that many people haven't heard before.

I’m looking forward to Sandi Toksvig, because she's always good fun, always interesting, and has the most infectious laugh.

The best film that I’ve seen so far was an NT Live – Present Laughter. Andrew Scott was absolutely incredible in it. Coming up, I’m really excited for Kneecap because I’ve seen very little of the Irish language on film.

Yasmine, Marketing Intern

My favourite live shows of 2024 were the Hallé Orchestra and Ania Magliano’s I Can’t Believe You’ve Done This. I had never been to a live classical concert before and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have experienced hearing an orchestra in the Butterworth Hall. It was entrancing and I enjoyed getting to stamp my boots in praise.

I’d also never really been interested in stand-up comedy, but Magliano’s hilariously profound performance sparked an interest in other comedians like Chloe Petts

I highly recommend you to go and see something you wouldn’t typically be interested in! This Autumn, I’m looking forward to Breach Theatre’s After the Act.

My favourite show of 2024 was Beautiful Evil Things by Ad Infinitum. I loved it so, so much because the actress was incredible.

It was a one-woman show, and I loved everything about it; the lighting and the sound was incredible, and the imagery was very powerful. It was a rewriting of the Medusa story, and I loved it!

I love that we do NT Live screenings at Warwick Arts Centre, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing Prima Facie in September.

Beth, Creative Learning Project Officer

The best thing I've seen recently was Deadpool & Wolverine. It was so funny, it was brilliant, such a nice night out.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Whitney - Queen of the Night. I think that's just going to be the best night ever!

David, Head of Cinema & AV

The best film of 2024 was undeniably Dune: Part Two. There was so much sub-bass I thought the cinema was going to fall into Benugo! And the film I’m most looking forward to is Joker: Folie à Deux.

Thomas, Exhibitions Curator

My favourite thing that I've seen this year would be Jenny Sealey’s Self Raising – which was a one-woman show about family secrets. And the thing I’m most looking forward to would be in the autumn, which is Nish Kumar and Grace Campbell's comedy.
