Folklorica a new digital installation
Come and explore a free new augmented reality experience at Warwick Arts Centre launching this summer.
Folklorica by Edie Jo Murray is a new augmented reality experience, where you use your phone to access a fantastical world. Come and encounter hidden digital sculptures around Warwick Arts Centre.
Folklorica brings to life local legends, tall tales and folklore. It materialises in real space what is normally confined to our imaginations.
Edie Jo Murray is a Coventry-based artist with a desire to disrupt reality. In Folklorica she focuses on urban mythologies which inform the identities of particular places. As well as how the campus connects with its surroundings in Coventry and Warwickshire.
Through her work, Edie’s focus on digital tools and immersive technologies is enriched through vibrant, sensory-driven exploration of physical media.
Edie is a graduate of the University of Warwick’s MA in Digital Media and Culture, an Artist Fellow at Birmingham Open Media and an alum of Vivid Project‘s Black Hole Club. Past work includes commissions from the Open Data Institute, Coventry City of Culture 2021 and Coventry’s Herbert Art Gallery & Museum.
Commissioned by Warwick Arts Centre
Available from Mon 17 May 2021 onwards – details of the experience are at the entrance of Warwick Arts Centre.
