Art, tunes and more  for Gallery Late

Posted
Thursday 17 November 2022

It’s coming soon – our very first Gallery Late!

Gallery Lates were pioneered by galleries like Tate Modern and the National Gallery as a different way to explore and experience a museum or gallery on an evening or weekend. Enjoy a drink with friends, take part in activities and enjoy some music alongside the exhibition.

Inspired by our current exhibition from Tate Liverpool, come and visit us on Saturday 26 November 2022 for a full day of great music, art, and much more as we launch our first Gallery Late event of the season - which includes a chance to own an exclusive limited-edition poster by Turner Prize winning artist, Jeremy Deller.

Radical Landscapes (11am-11pm), Free

This major exhibition explores responses to the British landscape by leading artists including Henry Moore, Eric Ravilious, Jeremy Deller and Derek Jarman, as well as Turner Prize 2022 nominees Ingrid Pollard and Veronica Ryan. Open late until 11pm.

House Is A Feeling (3pm-11pm), Free

Daylight Robbery presents an installation of films, artworks and objects exploring the house music scene in Coventry. Covering the period 1986-1994, artist Adi Dowling returns to the project last seen in the Ikea building as part of Coventry's City of Culture.

Folk In the Foyer (4pm-7.30pm), Free

Enjoy a series of appearances from leading folk and acoustic musicians from across the region. With Kevin Dempsey (Dando Shaft, Whippersnapper, Uiscedwr), Wes Finch and The Silver Wye, Paper Circus, and Zoe Cure.

Bryter Music Presents: Pink Moon (3pm sold out – extra performance added at 6pm), Tickets £5

Hear the late Nick Drake’s original copy of his own album, Pink Moon, played on the Drake family's own 1965 Pye Archiphon Stereo Gramophone Player.

Jeremy Deller X Acid Brass (7.30pm-9.30pm), Tickets £21 (students £7.50)

Stockport's multi award-winning Fairey Brass Band perform club classics. Turner Prize winning artist (and Radical Landscapes contributor) Jeremy Deller revisits his late-90s conceptual project that's previously included brass band arrangements of acid house tracks by A Guy Called Gerald and 808 State.

NB. The concert will be proceeded by a pre-recorded talk from Jeremy in the Theatre, with the first 250 attendees all receiving a free exclusive limited edition Deller A3 poster, created especially for the event.

Ghost Town DJs (9.30pm-11pm), Free

End your night with the Ghost Town collective, as they combine '90s bangers and party anthems for a right old fashioned rave up!

Make a day of it!

There's more running throughout Sat 26 November, including a Flower Brick Making In Clay workshop (10am); Family Film - Box Of Delights, a collection of award-winning animated short films from across Europe, suitable for ages 4-7 (1.30pm); acclaimed Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan drama She Said (1.35pm, 4.40pm, 7.15pm); unconventional road movie Bones And All (4.15pm, 7.30pm); the latest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (4.30pm) and Charlotte Wells' critically acclaimed directorial debut, Aftersun (1.45pm, 8pm).

And if you want a bite or drink, Benugo Bar and Kitchen is open from 9am until 9pm (with an additional drinks bar open until 11pm.)
