Monumental  Visions:  Speculative  Futures  Through Art

Posted
Friday 1 March 2024

An exhibition developed in partnership between the Inini Initiative, Warwick Arts Centre, and Birmingham-based artist Rumbi Savanhu.

Through a series of workshops over six months, participants engaged their senses to craft visions of an imagined future exploring sight and touch, smell, sound and taste. Now, their vibrant creations are on display, inviting you to explore this world of possibilities.

The Exhibition

The ‘Monumental Visions’ exhibition at Warwick Arts Centre's Theatre Bar Space brings together artwork inspired by personal experiences and sensory exploration.

The works range from a collaborative sound piece to ceramics, 2D works and poignant written works, reflecting a range of perspectives on an imagined Inini nation.

You can leave your own postcard reflecting your experience of nations, future and past, imagined, and real too.

The exhibition is open to visit from 29 February 2024.

About the Collaborators:

The Inini Initiative is dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and supporting migrants and refugees from global majority communities. It has been developing a partnership with Warwick Arts Centre for several years. This collaboration underscores their commitment to fostering community engagement and creativity.

Artist Rumbi Savanhu, known for her practice as an illustrator and artist based in Birmingham, has guided participants through the creative process.

Her distinctive style and inclusive approach have empowered participants to freely express themselves and bring their visions to life.

Special thanks to The Warwick Institute of Engagement’s Collaboration and Co-production Fund 2023 for their invaluable support in bringing "Monumental Visions" to fruition.
