Playing Out:  The Canley Parade Film

Posted
Wednesday 12 October 2022

On 16 July 2022 over 100 Canley Residents hosted the Canley Parade and what a day it was!

We paraded, danced and twirled from Canley Community Church to Prior Deram Park holding handmade props and with music provided by the wonderful Canley Samba Band.

If we were to summarise the day in 3 words we’d go for joy, colour and happiness. This new film shares an incredible day of community spirit and the love of all things Canley.

Hear from residents and see the parade weave through the streets before being welcomed into Prior Deram Park with food, music, theatre and creativity.

See if you can spot some of the amazing creations made over the workshops including a large whale, a shoal of fish, a giant moon and an abundance of stars and hearts.

In addition, the messages carefully stitched into the banners we waved share the community’s hopes and dreams for Canley, themselves and the world we live in.

A day to remember for a long time, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year!

Supported by Spirit of 2012 and presented as part of Birmingham 2022 Festival.

The Canley Parade film was made by filmmaker Paul Stringer.
