Join brilliant artists for hands-on workshops inspired by HOME, identity, community and belonging. Get messy, try something new, be inspired, create artwork, share ideas and see where your imagination takes you!

Our Artist in Residence for the season, Mothers Who Make Coventry, will be bringing their joyful, collaborative approach to making together - using everyday, recycled and sustainable materials to create, experiment and have fun.

There’s no right or wrong way to make - just come along, get stuck in and make something amazing together!

Sun 11 Oct - Hannah Moreton

Explore what community means to you through colour, pattern and creativity. Design and make your own portable banner, celebrating the people and places you call home.

Sun 18 Oct - Polly Merredew

Create a colourful paper square inspired by family, home, memories or imagination. Add it to our giant collaborative patchwork and watch individual creations connect into one vibrant artwork.

Sun 25 Oct - Natalie Zervou-Kerruish

Build your own immersive sanctuary using wood and decorated sheer fabric. Bring it to life with torches, creating playful shadows, shapes, scale and colour within your special space.

Sun 1 Nov - Rakha Madahar

Join artist Rakha Madahar to create a mini artwork inspired by the colours, shapes and textures of home. Explore memories, feelings and connections through playful abstract designs.

Sun 8 Nov - Polly Merredew

Weave your story into a giant colourful artwork. Choose colours and patterns inspired by people, places, memories or home, connecting your ideas with others through a joyful shared creation.

Sun 15 Nov - Natalie Zervou-Kerruish

Explore cultural histories through a playful sculpture stew. Using loose-part ‘ingredients’ and soft dough, create a tactile sculpture inspired by the smells, memories and stories of home.

Sun 22 Nov - Charlie Tophill  

Explore HOME through journaling and lyric writing. Respond to creative prompts, discover words and phrases that resonate, and share your writing on a hanging display before taking your journal home.

Sun 29 Nov - Rakha Madahar

Join artist Rakha Madahar to create a playful fridge magnet inspired by home, memory and the people who matter. Add your magnet to our colourful portrait of belonging.

Sun 6 Dec - Hannah Moreton

Explore what home means to you through collage, printing and painting. Create a model inspired by home comforts, memories, places and the things that make a house feel special.

Sun 13 Dec - Charlie Tophill

Make simple instruments from everyday household and recycled objects. Listen to sounds of home, from kettles to birdsong, and create music alongside field recordings in this playful session.

Mothers Who Make Coventry is a hub of artists and makers from the local region who mother in some form. The group meets regularly at its garden project space, where sessions are crucially adult-focused, while children are always welcome. This creates an inclusive space for parents that is so often lacking in artistic environments.

The hub frequently partners with organisations across the Midlands to provide a range of opportunities and paid work for artist mothers, which is a key objective of the group.

Mothers Who Make Coventry is part of the wider M/Others Who Make network, an international movement founded by writer and theatre director Matilda Leyser of Improbable. At its core, the network facilitates spaces for non-hierarchical peer support around the experience of being both a mother and a maker.
