May half term fun at Warwick Arts Centre

Posted
Monday 18 May

Summer is nearly with us and you’ll find plenty of fun for the whole family at Warwick Arts Centre. There’s plenty to choose from with whole days worth of activities available across theatre, cinema, art and music.

Family fun day

Get the school holiday off to a great start and come along to our Pop-up Family Fest event on Saturday 23 May from 10am - 4pm. With both free activities and ticketed events, everyone will be able to find something to enjoy for all ages.

Experience the fun and thrills of a live theatre show with two fantastic performances on offer. Soar into a magical world of dragons with Julia Donaldson’s Zog - a feel-good, musical show for children and adults alike. Or dream big with the coolest hijabi-wearing step-sisters in Sisters 360 - a funny and heartfelt play for 8–12 year olds.

The day will include free events in the foyer including baby yoga, a treasure hunt, craft activities and family cinema screenings of BabyCino: Ocean with David Attenborough and a relaxed screening of  Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Cinema adventures

There’s lots to watch in the cinema this half-term. After shepherd George is found dead, his flock of sheep band together to investigate what happened in The Sheep Detectives - a bright and witty comedy starring Hugh Jackman and a whole flock of talking sheep.

Further afield in a galaxy far, far away, The Mandalorian and Grogu take on Imperial warlords that remain scattered throughout the galaxy in the world of Star Wars.

Relaxed screenings

You can enjoy both these adventures in a relaxed screen setting to watch the film together as a family in a relaxed atmosphere. This includes a relaxed approach to noise and movement, slightly turned up lighting and the option to use noise-cancelling headphones. You can also come and go as you need and use the available chill-out space if you need a break.

My first concert

Babies and young children can enjoy the sounds of Jazz Around the World on Thursday 28 May, 1pm in a relaxed and interactive musical performance presented by professional musicians. Be sure to go to the free pre-concert workshop to get creative and make something to take to the show.

Join in with free activities and events

A range of free drop-in activities are available throughout the week with Family Sundays creative workshops, Mini Creatives for our younger visitors aged 0-4 years old and our popular Sunday morning Family Singing sessions.

For something a little different, finish off your half term holiday in the stunning Daiga Grantina exhibition and come and experience ICHI, a Japanese songwriter and instrument maker who combines his quirky handmade instrument inventions to create something entirely fun, danceable and exciting. The gallery has a making space for families where little visitors can grab a cushion and listen to a story on headphones inspired by the exhibition.
